Story: 13 months ago a friend and I embarked on a life-changing journey
through our own country -- to find ourselves, to find something, anything.
The details are so numerous that most of the days blended together
to create a wonderful mash-up of people, places, stories and flavors.
But as usual, a few places stuck to my brain more obviously.
Diablo Burger was one of those memorable flavors. So much so that
after a year in Guatemala, a friend and I made one more trek from LA to New Haven.
Along the way I saw a sign for Flagstaff and immediately stopped to say hello to Diablo
Burger one more time. So -- you may not be famous in the traditional sense,
but for a few lonely travelers you mean something. Thank you for that.

We are in the middle of a wonderful cross-country tour that began in upstate New York.
While crossing Nebraska we listened to Martin Luther King’s son speak at Michael Jackson’s memorial service. His message was simple. Be the best you can be. I just have to say that I didn’t believe the counterperson when he recommended I have my burger medium-rare, since I always order burgers anywhere else so well done that there is no sign of pink anywhere in the burger. I trusted your judgement, however, and ended up being pleasantly surprised. It was the best burger I have ever had in my life (even better than my mom’s famous burgers, and she’s my mom, so I’m not allowed to think anything is better than her cooking).
